He gave his father's birthplace as Belgium in 1920 and Germany in 1930.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a farmer and rancher in the Spicewood Community.

August married Augusta Heine, daughter of Henry William Heine Sr and Lavina Jane Harris, on 27 Mar 1911 in , Travis County, Texas.^{1 2} (Augusta Heine was born on 24 Feb 1888 in Bertram, Burnet County, Texas,^{13 14} died on 19 Jan 1971 in Bertram, Burnet County, Texas ^{13 14 15} and was buried on 21 Jan 1971 in Rockvale Cemetery, Spicewood, Burnet County, Texas ^{14 16}.). The cause of her death was cerebrovascular accident. She also had thrombophlebitis in her right leg which may have contributed to her death..¹¹

D.A. McInnish performed the marriage of Augusta and August Wall at Dee Turner's home. The Marble Falls Messenger reported that the marriage came as quite a surprise to August's friends who thought him too busy to think about marriage. They gave him an old-fashioned chivaree.
