  General Notes:

Henry's WWII army enlistment record showed that he had 3 years of high school. His civilian occupation was farm hand, general farms. He was single, without dependents. He was living in Burnet County, Texas. He served 9 months overseas. He suffered "concussion of the stomach." He received 4 battle stars.

Excerpt from a letter he wrote his family 15 Nov 1944 while serving in Europe during WWII:

I was in England..this leaves me somewhere in France and my hands are so cold that I can hardly write. It rains almost every day. Also I haven't had a dry bed to sleep in for ten days...The people over here are backward to us because they wear wood shoes, no cars...I can't see a thing to fight for over here. ..Sometimes I wonder if I have any feet because most of the time they have no feeling.

He was living in Evant, Texas, in 1996.
