During the drought of the 1950's, he moved his entire cattle operation to southeast Oklahoma. He stayed there 6 years. In the 1960's he again bought property in Burnet County, Texas. He ranched until his death in 1980. Social Security had his last benefit as Burnet, Burnet County, Texas.
