General Notes:
Glynn's parents were Mack Leland Boultinghouse and Ethel West Hall, both born in Texas. Her paternal grandparents, John Brown Boultinghouse and Mary Ann Evans were born in Arkansas. Her maternal grandparents, Henry and Margaret Hall were born in Tennessee and Arkansas respectively. Both families were early Burnet County settlers. Glynn's family moved from Smithwick to Marble Falls where she completed school. She was a civil service worker during WWII, starting out at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. She was assigned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for the last 15 months of the war. There she molded safety and Plexiglas for aircraft windshields and windows, cut them to shape and installed them. Glynn arrived back in Los Angeles, California, from Honolulu, Hawaii, on 14 Dec 1945 aboard the Yarmouth.
Back in Marble Falls, Texas, after the war, Glynn took a few retail jobs. Her mother's sister Martha was Dr. Malcolm Jackson's second wife. On the family's visits to Spicewood to visit, she became better acquainted with Spicewood native Morris Wall. They married in 1947. They lived in San Antonio for a while, then came back to Burnet County and ranched at Fairland. During the drought of the 1950's, Morris and Glynn moved their cattle operation to southeast Oklahoma where they stayed for 6 years. In the 1960's they bought a place 6 miles out of Burnet, Burnet County, Texas, with the intention of retiring there. Meanwhile they ranched on several other places. Over the years, Glynn raised birds, parakeets and exotics, as a commercial operation. She enjoyed that occupation a great deal. Morris died before their retirement move. Glynn was still ranching her place near Burnet and several leased tracts in late 2010, driving her car, and avoiding doctors.
Glynn Boultinghouse Wall (obituary) April 30, 1920 – November 27, 2019
Glynn Maxine was born to Mack Leland Boultinghouse and Ethel West Hall Boultinghouse on April 30, 1920 in Marble Falls, Texas. She graduated from Marble Falls High School. She went to Austin to work after graduation. In 1942, she took and passed a Civil Service exam. She was sent to mechanics' school in San Antonio. After training, she was assigned to Kelly Field in San Antonio where she received further training. She was then sent to be a member of the Plexi glass unit on Kelly Air Base. In November of 1944, she was selected to be transferred to Station X. Due to World War II, no one knew where Station X was until they arrived at the location. She was assigned to Hickam Field, which is on the island of Oahu, one of the Hawaiian Islands. Hickam Field was next to Pearl Harbor. She returned to the mainland states on December 25, 1945.
She married Morris Wall of Spicewood on September 25, 1947. They lived off Morman Mill Road near Marble Falls until 1951. Due to the drought, they moved to Oklahoma seeking grass for their cattle. They returned to the Burnet area in 1957 when the drought was over. She and Morris raised race horses for a while.
After Morris died of a heart attack on March 3, 1980, Glynn and her mother moved into a mobile home on the property Glynn and Morris had purchased west of Burnet. She moved a hunter's cabin on the property, added some rooms to it and continued to live in that house until her death.
She loved animals and at different times she raised and sold miniature donkeys, cattle, cats, and birds. She had birds of all kinds: parrots, cockatiels, parakeets, pigeons, love birds, chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, doves, and guineas. She was lovingly known as the "Bird Lady" to some.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Ethel Boultinghouse, her husband of 33 years, Morris, her brother Lester, and her sister Fern Bingham. Glynn was never blessed with children of her own, but she and Morris helped raise several young men in the Burnet area. She is survived by her faithful ranch hand, Fidel Mancera and many cousins. She was a faithful member of the Vanderveer St. Church of Christ in Burnet and she will be greatly missed by her church family.
