  General Notes:

Elnora Elizabeth and Mary Viola, who married T.B. Wall, were sisters. Therefore, 2 sisters married 2 brothers and all their children were double cousins. Their parents were Thomas L. Denniston and Frances Ann Franklin.

Nora had borne 2 children with 1 still living by the time of the 1910 census. Between the reports given by Nora and Viola over the census years of 1910, 1920, and 1930, it is unclear where their parents were born. They alternately gave Texas and Missouri for both of them. Their father consistently gave Texas as his birth place. Their mother gave Missouri as her birth place all except one time.

Marble Falls Messenger had date of death as 28 Dec 1976 in her obit. Texas Death Index on Ancestry.com had the date of death as 28 Dec 1976. Her tombstone is cut with the date of 26 Dec 1976.

Except from the Marble Falls Messenger, Dec 1976:

She was...a lifelong resident of Burnet County whose frontier exploits were noted in works by authors J. Frank Dobie and Mary Lasswell.

Mrs. Wall, an outdoors type who did carpentry and brick work, and worked in the fields alongside her husband, bore 13 children and raised 10 to adulthood. She taught herself to drive at age 66, after her husband's death, and continued to run her ranch alone until 1970. She rode horseback until age 78, and quit only because her horse got too old. She continued actively working around her home and in her flower garden until she had a stroke in 1973.

Her exploits belied her size. Her children remember that she was so tiny she could never buy a readymade dress. In order to saddle her horse, she used a pulley to lift the saddle so the horse could walk under it and then lowered it to his back.

During her last years, Mrs. Wall's chief pleasures were the keepsakes given her by friends over three-quarters of a century--vases, cups and saucers, and other such household items. A favorite item was a small hoe, minus handle, with a legend written on it: "My First Hoe-1893."
