  General Notes:

Chris Fritz Wall was a farmer, rancher, County Road Commissioner for 14 years and raised a lot of bees. He was a Spicewood School trustee.

Newspaper clipping (no date): C. F. was born in Austin County in 1876. When he was 5, the family moved to Bastrop. At 6, they moved to the Turner Farm in Travis County until 08/1887 when they moved to Bastrop, living there until 1891. In 1891 they bought the farm in Spicewood. In 1908 he was a trustee of the Double Horn School. In 1920 C. F. was elected County Commissioner, Precinct 4 and was still in office in 1934.

At the time of the 1900 census, Fritz rented his farm in Burnet County, Texas. He had been married 1 year. By the time of the 1910 census, Fritz owned his farm in Burnet County, Texas, free of any mortgage. It was listed as a general farm. He registered for the WWI draft using and signing the name Cris Fritz Wall. He was a self employed stock farmer in Spicewood, Burnet County, Texas. His wife, Annie, was his nearest relative. His situation remained the same for the 1920 and 1930 census. Brother-in-law, Joe Neumann age 34, was listed with the family in 1920. He was a laborer on a general farm.

Fritz gave his father's birthplace as Germany in 1900 and 1910, but as Belgium in 1920 and 1930. He indicated that his father spoke Flemish on the 1920 census.

SMITHVILLE, May 19.
C. F. Wall, 63, well-known farmer of Spicewood, in Smithville to attend the funeral of his uncle, August Bunte Sr, toppled from a chair and died here Wednesday at 6 a.m. of a heart attack.

Mr. Wall was sitting on the back porch of the Bunte home when he was stricken. (An article in the Smithville Times gave the time as 6:30 a.m. and the place as the home of his brother in law, Henry Bunte.)

He had come to Smithville after receiving notice of the death of Mr. Bunte, who succumbed early Tuesday to injuries received in an automobile accident near Austin as Bunte was returning home from a visit to the Wall family.

Funeral services were pending Wednesday for the Spicewood man.

Surviving him are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Fasel of Johnson City; and five sons, Robert, Max, Ed, Oscar and Adolphus Wall of Spicewood.

C. F. WALL DIES OF HEART ATTACK

This entire county was shocked yesterday morning when word was received that Mr. C. F. Wall had died at 6 a.m. from a heart attack. Mr. Wall was in Smithville at the time of his passing. He and his wife were called to that place to attend the funeral of Mr. August Bunte a relative who was killed by injuries received in a car wreck.

Mr. Wall's body was brought overland yesterday and interment is being held this afternoon in the Rockvale cemetery between Marble Falls and Spicewood.

Mr. Wall is known to practically all of Burnet County. He served this precinct for many years as commissioner and was always doing some act of worthiness for his neighbors and friends. Mr. Wall has numbers of friends and a host of relatives who are sorry to hear of his passing and the large concourse of friends journeying to the cemetery this afternoon attest to the high esteem in which this good man was held.

Mr. Wall was 60 years of age at the time of his passing having been born Sept 13, 1876.

Besides his wife, Mr. Wall leaves five sons and one daughter to mourn his passing. The sons are Ed, Oscar, Robert, Max and Adolph Wall, all of the Spicewood community. The daughter is Mrs. Walter Fasel. Three brothers August, Will and T. B. Wall, survive and also two sisters Mrs. Jack Thompson and Mrs. Henry Bunte. He is also survived by a large host of other relatives.

The Messenger joins the many friends in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.

C. F.'s birth date was given as 13 Sep 1877 and his mother's maiden name was misspelled as Galip on his death certificate by H. C. Bunte, who was the informant.

C. F. married Annie Neumann, daughter of Robert Neumann and Anna Guielich, on 27 Nov 1898 in Corwin (now Spicewood), Burnet County, Texas.1 (Annie Neumann was born on 20 Jul 1876 in Fromsdorf, , Germany,13 died on 27 Feb 1960 in Spicewood, Burnet County, Texas 13 14 and was buried on 29 Feb 1960 in Rockvale Cemetery, Spicewood, Burnet County, Texas 13 15.). The cause of her death was hypostatic pneumonia, generalized arteriosclerosis.11


  Marriage Notes:




The marriage between Annie and Chris Fritz Wall was performed by D. A. McInnish at her parents' home in what is now known as Spicewood. It was served by the Corwin post office at that time and was reported as Corwin in the newspaper.
