General Notes:

With the exception of John Jackson, the children of this couple went west in 1855. Stated by Elizabeth Brosius Neal, Bengies, Maryland.

He had a 33 year old black woman and 5 children as slaves in 1850. He had a 46 year old black woman and 5 children as slaves in 1860. They were named in his 1862 deed transfering real and personal assets to his son Dr. George Washington Brosius as Harriett, 46, Sam, 14, Charley, 8, Frank, 6, Martha, 4, and Rachael, 3.

He gave his birthplace as Pennsylvania in 1850 and as Maryland in 1860. In 1860 his granddaughter Cornelia Mann was listed in his household. In 1880, son John J. gave father's birthplace as Maryland.
