The Neumann family arrived in America on 29 Sep 1883, at Galveston Texas. They came from Fromsdorf, Germany, on the ship "Weser" from the port of Bremen, Germany. The ship left Bremen on 6 Sep 1883.

Anna was listed as head of household on the 1900 census. She was widowed. She had borne 7 children with 5 still living. She and her parents were born in Germany. Her 3 youngest children were living with her and her daughter Annie and Fritz Wall were living next to her. She was a farmer and owned her farm free of any mortgage. It was reported the same way in 1910. On the 1910 census, she was reported to have borne 5 children with 5 still living. The census entry showed that she spoke German, not English. Her youngest son Joseph was living with her and was a laborer on the home farm.

Transcription of tombstone on www.findagrave.com shows birth as 2 Dec 1842.

Her maiden name was recorded as Guielich on son Oscar's death record in California. A paper from Oscar's family had it handwritten as Goulich. Joseph Newman showed it as Guhlich on her death certificate. It was recorded as Goolidge on Joseph's death certificate by nephew Adolph Wall.
