The 1900 census had his birth date as Jun 1887, but he gave the date of 6 May 1887 when registering for the WWI draft. He used the name Fritz Otto Kraatz.

At the time of the 1910 census, Fritz was living next to his father in Milam County, Texas. He was farming a general farm which he rented. He had been married to Annie for 3 years and had a daughter, Dora. When he registered for the WWI draft 5 Jun 1917, he was farming 4 miles west of Pony (looks like), Texas. His mailing address was Ballinger, Texas, which is in Runnels County. He had a wife and 4 children but did not claim an exemption. At the time of the 1920 and 1930 census, Fritz rented his home in Runnels County, Texas, and was farming a general farm.
