  General Notes:

Ink received his nickname in the second grade. The story is that he was writing in his "Big Chief" tablet when his fountain pen became full of lint from the paper. He flicked his pen to remove the lint and splattered ink all over the pupils in front of him. From then on he was known as Ink.

Herman's WWII army enlistment record showed he had 4 years of high school. His civilian occupation was classified as semiskilled chauffeurs and drivers, bus, taxi, truck, and tractor. He was divorced, without dependents. He was living in Burnet County, Texas.

He was living in San Marcos, Texas, in 1952 and 1996.
Social Security had his last residence as San Marcos, Hays County, Texas.
