  General Notes:

William was a clerk in a store in 1870. 1873, he was cashier of The People's Bank in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His cousin, Emily Lewis's husband, James McFerran was the president. He was on the Board of Directors representing the Southern Methodist congregation of the El Paso County Bible Society. He was a notary. In 1875 and 1876, he served as treasurer of the Hook and Ladder Company. He was a Mason and elected to Senior Warden in Dec 1876. In early 1877, he went back to Missouri for a visit. By 1880 he had become a doctor like his father and was living with him. In 1900 and 1910, he was a physician in general practice. He owned his home free of any mortgage.

On 25 Nov 1897, The Gallatin Democrat newspaper published this short biography:
"WM. L. BROSIUS, M. D., Was born in Gallatin on April 7th, 1853, his father, G. W. Brosius, having for many years been one of the county's leading physicians, settling here in 1849. Dr. Brosius was reared here and began his business life as a clerk, afterwards filling the position of bookkeeper with the Daviess County Savings Association until 1873, when he went to Colorado, residing most of the time during his stay there at Colorado Springs, where he occupied the office of Cashier at the People's Bank. He went to Philadelphia and took up the study of medicine at the American University, from which he graduated in 1880. He then returned to Gallatin and practiced until 1889 when he went to St. Louis and took a course of study in Bacteriology, Microscropy [sic] and Higher Chemistry at the Missouri Medical College, graduating from that institution, Class of '90, since which time he has been located in this city, with office in the Hemry & Tuggle building. He is a member of the Medical Association of the State of Missouri, as also of the Tri-State, the Missouri Valley and the Grand River Medical Associations, and has occupied many other prominent positions."
