Burt's WWII Army enlistment record showed that he had a grammar school education. His civilian occupation was general farmer. He was married. He lived in Garfield County, Colorado.

Oct. 1, 1920 - Jan. 16, 1991 Burt Alfred George, 1503 County Road 150, Gypsum, died Wednesday in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. He was 70.

He was born Oct. 1, 1920, to Claude Alfred and Clarissa Toner Mallory George on Rifle Creek. He spent his childhood at the family ranch on Rifle Creek and attended school in Rifle.

He married Claudia Estella Beard on Oct. 1, 1941, in Rifle. She died July 16, 1989.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The Georges ranched on Rifle Creek with his parents and brother Clyde for 15 years.

They moved to Granby, where they owned the Trail's End Guest Ranch for two years and then moved to Sweetwater, where they owned and managed the Seven W Guest Ranch for 23 years before retiring.

Mr. George served as president of the state Guide and Outfitters Association. He was also past president of the Colorado River Chapter, Guide and Outfitters, and also a past director of the Dude Ranch Association. He was a member of Rifle Lodge 1345, Loyal Order of Moose, and had served as its governor.

He enjoyed his work with horses and was truly an old cowboy.

Survivors include a son, Harold of Wray; three daughters, Caroline Robinson of New Castle, Marlene Cline of Rifle, and Sharl Dunn of Gypsum; four brothers, Clarence "Bud" of Cedaredge, Walter of Rifle, Bill of Grand Saline, Texas, and Dale "Curly" of Englewood; a sister, Annie Randolph of Rifle; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Two grandchildren; two brothers, Gene and Clyde; and two sisters, Ruth Loose and Florence Brooks, are deceased.

Social Security had his last residence as Gypsum, Eagle County, Colorado. ³
