By the time of the 1880 census, she had moved to Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas, where she was living with her daughter Mary and her husband Joseph Kimbrow (misspelled Kimbrough on the census that year). She gave her birthplace as Alabama and her parents as South Carolina. At the time of the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census, Mary was living with her son John in Johnson County, Texas. She indicated that she was widowed and had borne 4 children, with 3 still living. (In 1920, the count was shown as 3 borne, 3 living). The parents' birthplaces were given variously as South Carolina, United States, and Alabama.

Mary received Confederate Widows Pension #02313.
