Born on Reid Farm -Center City Tx-went through 8th grade school Center City Tx-raised on farm - drove dump truck and work construction worked as mechanic in Goldthwaite Tx for Ford & Chevy ,move to Killeen Tx -est 1948,opened garage -also worked at Ft. Hood as mechanic at Tank Shop - retired ,moved to Dallas then Balch Springs Tx- close to son Jerry ,where lived until he died. - *buried next to wife -Joyce & daughter Linda Jannell-also his parents-W.E.Reid & Elizabeth. Raymond's Sister-Jimmie Esta "Reid" Atchison & husband also buried in this cemetery

Funeral services were held Saturday for Samuel Raymond Reid of Mesquite, who died Oct. 18 at the age of 73.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Byron Beasley, were at Star Church of Christ. Burial was at Hurst Ranch Cemetery. Pallbearers included Wayland McBeth, Gregg Reid, Bruce Reid, Stan Nesbitt, Gary Reid and Stew McNeany.

Survivors include: his wife Joyce Reid of Balch Springs; son Jerry Reid of Balch Springs; six grandchildren; eight (great) grandchildren; sisters Jewel McBeth of Gatesville and Johnnie Head of Goldthwaite. She (He) was preceeded in death by son Sammy Reid.

Samuel married Joyce Deloris Wright, daughter of Tullie Berry Wright and Audrey May Garrett, on 6 Jan 1934 in Center City, Mills County, Texas.
