A Place to Sit Down

I stood six foot two at two hundred and nine pounds.
Nothing in the world could hold me down.
Then like a shot in the dark, Old Mother Nature set me down
Paralyzing me from the waist clear to the ground.
I was a young man of thirty eight
Mad as hell and full of hate.
Then I had a long talk with myself and with the good Lord
And I realized that life would be might hard.
But up to now I have had a good life
With four wonderful children and a pretty wife.
Then I saw people worse off than me
Because I have two good arms and eyes to see.
So now I have wheels to get around
But no more worries about a place to set down.

Social Security had his last benefit as Lavon, Collin County, Texas, and his last residence as Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas.

Sammy married Shirley Anne Bernier.
