Meta was listed in her stepfather's family as though her last name were Koch on the 1870 census in Austin County, Texas. At the time of the 1880 census, she was married to August Bunte and had two children. They were listed with her father in law in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas. Her age was shown as 20. By the time of the 1900 census, Meta (listed as Middie) had borne 9 children with 4 still living. Her birth date was shown as Apr 1857 and her age as 43. She gave her parents birthplace as Germany.

Her adopted son Herman was her nephew.

Both major references on the family, The Wall Family, 1849-1996, and The Bunte Family History have the birth date as 2 Apr 1858. That places her birth within a few months of the date cut into younger sister Anna's tombstone. Therefore, until evidence shows up disputing that information, I will go with the date given in the 1900 census.--Rose Lee Wall 2010

Meta married August Bunte Sr, son of Andreas Christian August Bunte and Friederike Charlotte Ganzer, about 1877. (August Bunte Sr was born on 11 Mar 1859 in Coswig, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany ⁷, christened in St. Nicolai Kirche (Lutheran church), Coswig, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, died on 18 May 1937 in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas ^{8 9} and was buried in Bunte Cemetery, Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas ⁴.). The cause of his death was automobile accident.
