Wilhelm Johann Ferdinand Berg ¹

   Cause of his death was cardio renal hypertension. Contributory causes were cardiac dilation and acute cardiac failure..²

  General Notes:

Wilhelm's parents were Christian Berg and Philippine Luedtke who later lived in Brazil. (Christian died in South America and Philippine returned to Germany.) He was a farmer's helper and his religion was Lutheran. He was in the reserve Army not the active Army because of a small disability. Wilhelm and Johanna came to America in the spring of 1894 with two daughters. The family farmed at various places: Wuthrich Hill Community, Noack Community (known as Shaw Place and probably the first land owned by Wilhelm in America, at the present time Alvin Brinkmeyer owns this land), and then about ten years in Vernon, Texas, prior to moving in 1919 to New Bern Community. Wilhelm bought one part of the farm in 1917 and then in 1919 bought the other part to make one farm with the pasture in between. At present time this land is owned by Herman Kaase, son of Bertha (Berg) Kaase and grandson of Wilhelm and Johanna. Tammi and Greg (Herman's children) were the fourth generation residing there. Thirty-one grandchildren lived to adulthood.

Wilhelm returned to Germany to see family members that still lived there in 1923. This was after the death of Johanna. On his return he came through Ellis Island.

Wilhelm married Johanna Ernestine Wilhelmina Roeske on 31 Jan 1891 in Seelitz, Sachsen, Germany. (Johanna Ernestine Wilhelmina Roeske was born on 16 Sep 1867 in Seelitz, Sachsen, Germany,³ died on 12 Sep 1922 in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas ³ and was buried on 13 Sep 1922 in Wuthrich Hill Cemetery, Williamson County, Texas ^{3 4}.). The cause of her death was broncho pneumonia.²
