  General Notes:

By the time of the 1900 census in Fayette County, Texas, Pauline had been married 7 years. Christian said he had been married 20 years, so I think they were giving total years of marriage. She had borne 3 children with 2 still living. She indicated that she had been born at sea, on the 1900 and 1910 census, and Texas, on the 1920 and 1930 census, and that her parents were born in Germany. (By the way, Louise also reported that her mother was born at sea on the 1920 census.)

By the time of the 1910 census, Pauline had born 6 children with 5 still living. She was a laborer on the home farm in Wilbarger County, Texas. On the 1930 census, Pauline indicated that she was 22 when first married. That would put the marriage date to Christian at 1894 which is after the birth of her first child Louise. This goes along with LaVerne Harrell Clark's report in The Bunte Family History that she was a widow with a child. Dolores Fasel Bozeman reported in The Wall Family, 1849-1996 that Pauline came into the marriage expecting so Christian accepted Louise as his own.

If she were born at sea of German parents in 1972, they were presumably coming to America. I found no entries on passenger lists with this name. I searched for 7 year old Paulines in Austin and Fayette County in the 1880 census and found Pauline Droigk in Fayette County. I followed that family through the remaining census years and found they had immigrated to America in 1872 and were born in Saxony Prussia/Germany. They were listed one family away on the same page as Pauline and Christian on the 1900 census. I confirmed with Rudolph Koch that his grandmother's maiden name was Droigk and his grand aunt was Christine Droigk Benedix. Droigk was shown as her father's name on the death certificate. Her mother's maiden name was Budick.

She had been living 7 miles SW of Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas, at the time of her death.
