By the time of the 1900 census, she had borne 4 children with 2 still living. She was working as a dressmaker in Troy, Monroe County, Iowa. Her 1915 Iowa state census card showed that whe had 9 years of grammar school and 2 years of high school. She was Methodist. The 1925 Iowa census showed 8 years of schooling. On this census, her parents were shown as Captain Saunders and Mary Stinson, both born in Pennsylvania. Perhaps the truth is Mary Eliza (or Elizabeth) Stinson.
