GOLDTHWAITE -- Funeral services for Thurman Head, 91, of Goldthwaite, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the First United Methodist Church with pastor Carlos Cloyd assisted by Doug Holtzclaw, Stewart Farrell and Kevin Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.

He died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Goldthwaite.

He was born May 23, 1921, in Center City, to James Welch (J.W.) Head and Lufa (Owens) Head. He was married to Syble Miller on Aug. 11, 1946, in Pleasant Grove. He was a teacher and a rancher. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Syble Head of Goldthwaite; children, Tommy Head and wife Wynona of Goldthwaite and Kathi Campbell and Sam of Star; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Vonnie Price, Eleanor Head, Ola B. Landers, Nadine Core and Ruby Brazil.

Thurman Head of Goldthwaite, Texas passed away November 30, 2012 at Goldthwaite. He was 91 years of age. Thurman was born May 23, 1921 in Center City, Texas to James Welch (J.W.) Head and Lufa Owens Head. He married Syble Miller on August 11, 1946 in Pleasant Grove (Mills County) Texas and they were married for 66 years.

Thurman was associated with the First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1943 and made his living as a teacher/rancher. He served his country in WW II in the United States Army.

Services were held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Goldthwaite, Texas. Pastor Carlos Cloyd officiated assisted by Doug Holtzclaw, Stewart Farrell and Kevin Brown. Interment was at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite, Texas.

Pallbearers included Sam Campbell, Karl Thurman Head, Charles Cary Campbell, Clark Thomas Campbell, Brandon Bartek and Trey Pool.

Survivors include wife Syble Head, Goldthwaite, Texas; children and spouses, Tommy and Wynona Head, Goldthwaite, Texas, Kathi and Sam Campbell, Star, Texas; grandchildren and spouses Karl Thurman Head, Melanie Caryne Bartek & Brandon, Charles Cary Campbell & Mandy, Clark Thomas Campbell & Summer, Luci Claire Pool & Trey; great grandchildren Jonathan, Conner & Emily Bartek, Carter, Carsyn & Owen Campbell; a host of family and friends; and special family friend Frances Osborn.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.W. & Lufa Head; five sisters Vonnie Price, Eleanor Head, Ola B. Landers, Nadine Core and Ruby Brazil.
