Gerald Carlos Head was born on November 2, 1920 at Center City. His parents were William Wesley Head and Annie Idell Lucas Head. He attended Center City School and then graduated from Star High School after Center City consolidated with Star. He attended Draughon's Business College in Abilene. He was a cotton buyer for Blackwell Wood and Mohair for a time when cotton was still ginned in Mills County. On February 1, 1941 Gerald and Wilma Lee were married. Wilma had also attended Center City school and graduated from Star. Her parents were Ruth and Robert Lee of the Center City Community.

Gerald served with the First Calvary during World Warr II and was sent to Japan. After the war, Gerald returned to Goldthwaite where he went into the real estate and insurance business. In 1948, he bought have interest in the Insurance Agency owned by Mr. W. D. (Duke) Clements, a long time insurance agent. They were partners until Mr. Clements death. Gerald then became sole owner of the Agency which he ran until he retired. He was an independent insurance Agent in Goldthwaite for thirty-seven years. Gerald has served on various boards and committees through the years. He and Wilma are members of First Baptist Church. They are the parents of two children, Gerry Lee and Helen Jan. After Gerald's retirement from the insurance business, he started raising registered Suffolk sheep and planted a pecan orchard which keeps him busy and active.

GOLDTHWAITE -- Funeral services for Gerald "G.C." Head, 92, Goldthwaite be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite, with Brother Doug Holtzclaw and Butch Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.

He died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite.

He was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Mills County, to Wesley Head and Idell (Lucas) Head. He was married to Wilma Lee on Feb. 1, 1941, in Mills County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and worked as an insurance agent. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Head of Goldthwaite; children, Gerry Head and wife Stephanie of Goldthwaite and Helen Morris and husband Jim of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
