He lived in a multi family home along with his sister Ella and her husband in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. When Samuel registered for the WWI draft on 2 Sep 1918, he was living in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He worked as a grain sampler for the Missouri State Grain Inspection Department. He listed Cornelia Brosius as his nearest relative. His death certificate showed that he worked in the county clerk's office.
