Clarence spent his childhood and attended school in Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado. He was an auto mechanics instructor for Pikes Peak Community College. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Cedaredge, a member and past master of Eckert Masonic Lodge #136 AF & AM, member and past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star Spruce Chapter #129, El Jebel Shriner's Temple AAONMS of Denver, and Western Colorado Shriner's Club. He enjoyed socializing, writing stories, metal working, learning to use a computer and making chairs out of horseshoes.
