  General Notes:

Her parents were born in Alabama. By the time of the 1900 census, she had borne 4 children with all still living. She was divorced. She owned her farm in Bandera County, Texas, and was farming it with the help of sons William and Ceaborn. At the time of the 1910 census, Caroline was living next to daughter Leacy Secrest's family in Kerr County, Texas. She rented her home. Mary lived with her. That census, she reported that she had borne 6 children with 4 still living. At the time of the 1920 census, she and Mary were living in Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas. She rented her home. She had lived in Kerrville for 29 year prior to her death. Her daughter Mary was the informant on the death certificate.

Several family trees are carrying her name as Melessia "Monkey" Andrews.

Aunt Monkey told a story of a time Uncle Bill was away and Commanche Indians came to their cabin. The cabin was in remote area on a hill. She could see the Indians approaching and sent the children to their assigned hiding places. To open the front door you had to place your finger through a hole and lift up a lever to open it. One Indian Brave stuck his finger in the hole to open the door and Aunt Monkey looking for the nearest weapon grabbed her butcher knife and sliced his finger off. The brave yelled in pain so loudly that it frighten the others away never to return.
