Vonnie Willson
TYE -- Vonnie Willson, 69, shop foreman for J.H. Strain & Sons Construction Co. for 40 years, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.

Mr. Willson was born in Lamkin in Comanche County and attended school in Mullin. He moved to Tye in 1960 and was the widower of Elizabeth Stephens Willson, whom he married in 1948 in Cross Plains. He married Nina Beth Robertson in 1996 in Goldthwaite.

Survivors include his wife, of Tye; two sons, George Willson of Dallas and Larry Willson of Tye; one daughter, Lou Ann Gayle of Tye; two brothers, Warren Willson of Mullin and Freddy Willson of Stephenville; one sister, Gloria Marler of Goldthwaite; and three grandchildren.

Vonnie married Loura Elizabeth Stephens in 1948 in Cross Plains, Callahan County, Texas. (Loura Elizabeth Stephens was born on 6 Nov 1923, died on 4 Nov 1993 and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Taylor County, Texas ⁷.)

Vonnie next married Nina Beth Robertson, daughter of James Douglas Robertson Sr and Altha Lee Brown.
