  General Notes:

By the time of the 1900 census, Mary had borne 8 children with 7 still living. She and her husband John Kloth were farming in Colorado County, Texas. On that census, she gave her birth date as Apr 1864 and her year of immigration from Germany as 1883. Her parents were also born in Germany.

Mary was a widow from Nachanitz, a community near La Grange, Fayette County, Texas, when she married August Bunte. She had seven children by her previous marriage and some of the younger children came to live with her and August Bunte after their marriage. According to the census, it was her third marriage and his second. No children were born to this union. Her youngest daughter by her previous marriage Annie M. Kloth married Herman C. (Koch) Bunte, the adopted son of her second husband. Her daughter Mary Annie Kloth married Max Wall.

On the 1910 census, Mary was listed as born in Texas with parents born in Germany. On the 1920 census, she gave her birthplace as Germany and gave the immigration date of 1882 and reported that she was a naturalized citizen. The date is illegible. Her native language was German. The birthplaces were given as Germany in 1930. She reported that she had been 19 when first married.

Information about her immigration was included on husband August Bunte Sr's naturalization papers. According to that, she entered the United States at New Orleans, Louisiana, in Mar 1869. This however exactly matches the information he gave for himself. It was unlikely.

Her children were all raised Catholic.

There are several variations of her maiden name. Son Adam Kloth used Copperath on her death certificate. He reported Kopfenroth on Robert's death certificate. Louise's son reported Kopenrodt on her death certificate. Herman Bunte reported Koppenrodt on Annie's death certificate. Adam's wife Ida reported Kopenrod on his death certificate. Maxine Wall thought it was Koppenrath as did LaVerne Harrell Clark in her Bunte Family History.
