  General Notes:

Obituary for Adell Houston
Iris Adell Houston, known as Adell or just "Granny" was born in Menard, Texas on August 29, 1925 and passed away on May 12, 2020. God said that you were tired and ready to come home. So He put His arms around and whispered, "come home with me" with tearful eyes we saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a determined spirit was at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David Newton "Jack" Houston Jr. in 2001 and by her son, David Newton Houston III in 2006. Adell is survived by: her brother Gene Oleson of San Angelo, TX; her daughter Gwyndolyn Miller and husband Todd Miller of Cedar Creek Lake, TX; Granddaughter Stephanie Barral and husband James Barral of Forney, TX and great grandchildren Madison and Jaydyn Barral; Cynthia Barral of Forney, TX; Granddaughter Dinah Houston-Gratch and husband Marc Gratch of Fort Worth, TX and great granddaughter Eliana Gratch; along with many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. We all believe that God made it possible for us to have a little bit of Heaven here on Earth. For Adell, that included supporting the war effort in World War II and having an airplane pilot's license, being a member of the 45 Plus group in Dallas and an active member of her Baptist Church home. Adell was an avid dominos player and enjoyed traveling for fun and to learn about her family genealogy. She was also a gifted artist and painted many beautiful paintings that are in many relatives homes. Adell retired from the insurance industry, spending 50+ years with the Hancel McCord Company of Dallas, Texas. Pastor Randy Newberry of Three Forks Senior Living in Forney, TX will officiate. Graveside Services will be held at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, TX at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. There will be a viewing beginning at 10:00am on May, 19, 2020 in the main building of the Restland Funeral Home. Due to Corona virus regulations, no more than 10 people at a time may be in the viewing room and you must wear a facemask. There are no capacity or other restrictions at the Graveside Service, however, we ask that attendees practice safe social distancing. The immediate family would like other family and friends to know that after restrictions are eased, they will have a Celebration of Life for Adell at a location and time to be determined. 1
