HOUSTON, DAVID NEWTON, Jr., known as Jack Houston, born in Wood County, Texas February 21, 1910, passed away October 1, 2001. God said that you were tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around and whispered, " come home with me" with tearful eyes we saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a determined spirit was at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only take the best. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Adell; a son David Newton Houston III and his wife Vicki; daughter Gwyne Sims; three grandchil¬dren Stephanie Barral, Dinah Houston, and Dena Horton; three great¬grandchildren Madison, Jaydyn Barral, and Shelby Horton; and many nieces and nephews. We all believe that God made it possible for us to have a little bit of heaven here on earth. Jack was an avid golfer with an honorary "Lifetime Membership" in the North Texas Senior Golf Association. He was the retired owner of Jack's Truck Parts, Inc of Dallas. Rev. Ken Reeves of Kingnian, Arizona and Rev. Craig Freeman of Ferndale Baptist Church will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice. Services will be held at Restland WILDWOOD Chapel, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 03,2001. Interment to follow in Restland Memo¬rial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 02, 2001 at Restland Funeral Home

David married Iris Adell Oleson, daughter of Rufus Murry Oleson and Eula Faye Hines, on 30 Jul 1948 in Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas. (Iris Adell Oleson was born on 29 Aug 1925 in Menard, Menard County, Texas, died on 12 May 2020 in Garland, Dallas County, Texas and was buried in Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.)
