  General Notes:

Scheller, Mary Jane (Berthold)
OAK GROVE ITEMS

News were (sic) received here early Saturday morning that Mrs. Louis Scheller of the Osage community was dead. Although Mrs. Scheller's health has been bad for many years, her death was unexpected, and only a few days ago she scratched a small place on her arm and blood poison set in. There was but very little hopes held out for her from the first, but all that medical skill and loving hands could do was done for her, but the Father above saw best to take her where there is no pain or suffering. With her lived ones around her, and realizing that she was nearing the end, and that she would soon cross the dark river and be in that beautiful home above, she went to sleep at 10:05 and woke up "Over There". It is hard indeed to give up a mother, and life, and time can never erase that sorrow which has been cast over that home, there is a vacant chair which can never be filled. Mrs. Scheller was born in the year of 1858 in Colorado County and had she lived until the 23rd of this month she would have been 66 years old. She formerly lived down here in this community until about six years ago when she and her husband moved to Osage, where they have resided ever since. Mrs. Scheller leaves to mourning her loss her husband Louis Scheller, and five children, Mrs. Percy Obenhaus and Hy Scheller of Glidden, Mrs. Robt. Stapleton and Jess Scheller of Damon Mound, and Mrs. Alma Goode, who lived with them: there were twelve grand children and three brothers, Jno G. Berthold of El Campo, Louis of Glidden and Charley of Skidmore and one sister, Mrs. Ambrose Darby of Bay City, besides a host of other relatives. Mrs. Scheller was a devoted wife and mother, a true friend and deeds of kindness to her friends and neighbors in time of trouble will long be remembered by them. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones in this sad hour. May God bless and comfort them. [Interment in Miller Creek Cemetery]
