General Notes:
Weldon went to the NYA training school in San Marcos, Texas, and received training in welding. In Sep 1942 he went to Vancouver, Washington, where he worked for six months in the Kaiser Shipyard. In Mar 1943 he received his military induction papers and returned to Texas by bus. He had pneumonia by the time he arrived and was delayed until 28 Apr 1943 for induction. By the time all his military training was complete, Japan had surrendered and the war was over.
Weldon's military occupational specialty during WWII was Airplane Elec Mech Gunner. His civilian occupation was classified as Arc Welder.
He worked in a Mobile Service Station for about six months, then took a job with Pedernales Electric Co-op building power lines. Some friends he had met while working at the service station told him about an opening at the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He accepted a job there and made a career of it.
Social Security had his last residence as Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas.
