  General Notes:

Talmage's parents were Robert Seymour Chapman and Sarah Elizabeth Denman. The family was living in Williamson County, Texas, in 1900, and in Robertson County, Texas, in 1910 and 1920, although Talmage wasn't listed with them in 1920. When he registered for the WWI draft on 24 Aug 1918, he said he was self-employed in Franklin, Robertson County, Texas. He listed his mother in Wheelock, Robertson County, Texas, as his nearest relative. His parents were in Mills County, Texas, in 1930 . The 1930 census shows Talmage Chapman's occupation as salesman-medicine. He was renting his home in Mills County, Texas. At the time of the 1940 census, Talmage and his children were living with his parents in Goldthwaite. He was a bus driver for the public schools.

Most legal documents carry him as Talmage Chapman. Social Security card was issued in the name of Early Chapman. E.J. Chapman was used on Albert's birth record. I am convinced this was transcribed wrong and should be E. T. Chapman.--Rose Lee Wall 2009

Talmage may have gone to California with his sons after Mattie died. He returned and spent the last 19 years of his life in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. His occupation was shown as operator-owner of a grocery store on the death certificate. Mattie C. Sullins was the informant.
