  General Notes:

From Elvin Head, MM-2c (1944)

Dearest Folks:

I received a letter from you today written July 8. Sure was glad to get it. I have been getting some nice letters from you quite often, but haven't had time to answer them. I have written one letter since I sent you the money and I wrote it to Mary. They gave me today to rest up so I started this morning by doing a big washing. Some rest, hah!

I received the letter from Billy that you mentioned about 3 or 4 days ago, but haven't had time to answer it. I'm sure glad he is doing all right and maybe it will be over with before he has to come over here.

I saw E. C. Hughes in New Caledonia and yelled at him and he recognized my face, but I don't think he knew quite who I was. He was working there. I was on a ship at the time.

I received a letter from Geneva Stewart with a picture of her in her graduation gown and cap. She sure has changed a lot. Favors her mother a lot, too. I told her in my last letter to tell J.D. to come out here and fish, that he could find plenty of water to fish in, but he said he believed he had rather fish out of a bucket. Safer. I think I have received all the pictures that you sent me of Ronnie Wayne. They sure are nice.

The people here are natives. Tonganese and some Melanisians. Black head hunters, too. B:r-r

I guess I will close for now. There isn't anything I need yet. When I need something I'll holler. So long for now and good luck to all. Love alwaysl

Elvin, MM-2c
P.S. Haven't received the Eagle yet.

In the early 1950's, Elvin owned and operated Head's Texaco Station at 1524 Pulliam St, San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas.
