Her father, Lawrence E. Martin, was born in Kentucky, her mother, Harriet Ann Johnson, in Missouri. The family lived in Little River, Mississippi County, Arkansas, at the time of the 1910 census. Her father was farming. At the time of the 1920 census, the family lived in Prairie, Carroll County, Arkansas, where her father was a general farmer. Her father was also a logger in the Ozarks and later in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon). She had 3 siblings--Carroll (or Carl) Owen, Opal A. and Joy L. Flossie lived in Newellton, Louisiana, much of her life. Social Security had her last residence as Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. ¹

Flossie married Chester Newton Head, son of Columbus Monroe Head and Isabella J. Read, in 1921 in Presbyterian Church, Berryville, Carroll County, Arkansas.¹ (Chester Newton Head was born on 24 Nov 1900 in Texas ⁷ and died in Oct 1977 ⁷.)
