The DAR application of Zenith Knight Grant connects this George Brosius who married Margaret Shafer to Jacob Brosius born in 1744 and his wife Catherine Newman.

The following chart is compiled from reports received from Mattie G. Brosius Anderson, who writes:

"We are descended from George Brosius who came from Holland and settled at Sunbury, Pa. One brother remained in Holland and left the Million Dollars to the Brosius heirs. Grandfather Jacob said his share would be 1/7 or 1/9 of the estate. Her father, George W., paid his share as long as he lived."

J. B. Brosius, of Prairie Home, Mo., reports that of his grandfather, George Brosius, nothing is known, but gives the list of his children as follows:
Jno. Brosius, b. 5-6-1804, m. 1-24-1831
Jacob Brosius, b. 10-9-1806
Samuel Brosius, b. 2-4-1809
Peter Brosius, b. 1-24-1811
Catherine Brosius, b. 5-7-1813, m. 6-21-1831, Jeremiah Berry

John Baily Brosius of Carthage, Mo., reports Jacob as born 5-6-1804, and the following chart is made with the supposition that this is correct and that J. B. Brosius had reversed the names of his uncles Jno and Jacob, as to their date of birth.

Where there are conflicts of names or dates in these reports it is indicated by the use of brackets or question mark.

This family may be connected in some way with that of John Abraham Brosius, but I am not able to prove it. George had a brother in Holland who left the Fortune to the family.
