Nancy's parents were Joel J. Blackburn and Nancy Eliza Hancock. They were married 24 November 1846 by Uriah Williams, an elder in the M.E.C. in Blount County, Alabama. She was the first child born to the couple. The 1900 census supports the birth year of 1847 instead of that shown on her death certificate.
