  General Notes:

John's parents, John Peter Fasel and Margarete Klurentasch, were also born in Germany. He immigrated to America on 7 Nov 1890 on the ship Normania which arrived at New York. He herded sheep for several families, including the Reimers and Striblings, in the Cypress Mill area. After he married Amelia, he managed his own farm and ranch near Fall Creek, Blanco County, Texas.

He was still an alien at the time of the 1900 census. He was paying a mortgage to own his farm in Blanco County, Texas. By 1910 he owned his farm in Blanco County, Texas, free of any mortgage.

John became a naturalized citizen in 1916. By 1920 he was operating a stock farm in Blanco County, Texas. At the time of the 1930 census, he owned his home in Blanco County, Texas. It was valued at $3500. (Maybe that was the value of the farm.)

He served as a trustee for the Fall Creek school system. The original home of John and Amelia Fasel still stands in the Fall Creek community. It has been expanded and remodeled over the years but the original fireplace still stands. It served as the home of his son Willie.

The family lived off the land during the early years (1880's-1915). Crops such as corn were raised to feed the cattle and chickens. Some cotton was grown as their cash-money crop. A lot of sheep and goats were raised for the wool and mohair. Shearing them was a big job.
