When Earl registered for the WWI draft on 5 Jun 1917, he was farming for himself on his father's farm in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas. He was single. At the time of the 1930 census, Earl was farming a general farm in Bastrop County, Texas. He rented his home on a farm. He indicated that he was a veteran of WWI. His widowed father Edgar Hardee was listed with him. Edgar indicated that his father was born in Florida and his mother in Georgia. He was a commercial truck driver.

The cause of her death was heart attack.³
