  General Notes:

George was married on 28 Nov 1809 in Lexington, Woodford Co.[now Fayette Co.], KY The name of the bride is unknown.

George Robertson was the Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court for many years. He was said by some to be one of the greatest lawyers ever born in Kentucky.

Source: The following are excerpts from the family bible, according to "Genealogies of KY Families", written by the Honorable George Robertson.

George Samuel McKee Robertson was named after myself and my best friend and benefactor, the late Samuel McKee.

Bainbridge Robertson died of a disease supposed to be erysipelas [sp]. He was a very large promising child.

Martha Jane Robertson died of influenza and whooping cough. She was a most beautiful and highly gifted child. She was the idol of the family and the admiration of all who knew her.

George S. McKee Robertson died of scarlet fever, an uncommonly promising boy in every respect, amiable, intellectual and handsome. He was the favorite of every member of the family.

Mary Oden Epes Robertson died of cholera. She was 18 years old and of fine person and mind.

George Robertson Jr. although healthy, ruddy and robust from his birth, having caught cold about the 1st of Jan 1856 had the symptoms of bronchitis tending to consumption, and on the night of his death having played the violin better than usual, he went to bed and coughing up a little blood about half after 4 o'clock he requested his mother to "send for the Doctor" and while she was calling a servant, he sitting on the bed, said to his father "I can't get by breath" and instantly sank into his father's arms and expired. The shock was tremendous and even now nearly two years after his death his parents are almost as gloomy and disconsolable as the day of his death.

Eleanor J. Robertson, wife of George Robertson, after living most happily with him for more than 55 years, died leaving him and her long happy home desolate and hopeless and producing a social void that nothing earthly can ever fill. A neater, modester or juster woman, a better mother, wife and mistress never lived. She was the Soul and Idol of her family circle, whose fatal bereavementis irreparable and crushes the heart of the devoted husband. May all who knew her reverence in her memory and profit by the beautiful example of her model life.
