After a lingering illness of many months D. A. Noble died at his home in the second ward last Monday night about 9 o'clock. He was stricken with a paralysis about a year ago. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Hastie officiating, and a large number of neighbors and friends attested their respect for the deceased by their presence. The remains were accompanied to Oak View by a very large concourse of people. The pall-bearers were his life long friends - J. M. Robb, J. R. Duncan, S. T. Craig, W. F. Walker, J. W. H. Griffin and Eli DeTar.

In the death of Mr. Noble the community loses one of its oldest and most esteemed citizens. He came to Albia in 1851 and soon after engaged in business, and continued thus until compelled to retire by sickness. His citizenship is without spot or blemish. He served one term as county treasurer. He was always active in promoting the moral and material advancement of the town and county.
