Mark A. George died April 16, 2005. He was 48.
Mark was born March 24, 1957, to Dale "Curly" and Ida Marie (Hudson) George, in Glenwood Springs. He spent his childhood in Rifle and graduated from Rifle High School. He graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College. He was the assistant manager of Tim's Tools in Silt.
Mark married Marla M. Strader on Oct. 27, 1988, in Englewood.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Rifle Snowmobile Club. He was an avid outdoors person. He loved hunting, hiking, four-wheeling and collecting muscle cars. He loved his dogs, Sassy, Latriga, Q.T. Bear, Ruby and Buddy. Most of all, Mark was a loving family man, and the light of his life was Marla, his wife. Everyone who knew Mark loved him and considered him a friend.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Marie George, of Rifle; father and stepmother, Dale "Curly" (Karen) George, of Thornton; stepbrothers John, Joe, Jeff and Jim White; brother Al (Jackie) George and nieces Amy and Christana George, of Rifle; nephews Brandon, Genge and Brice Strader; sister Rose Marie (Pete) Bunning, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and all his coworkers at Tim's Tools, especially Poke and Dee Stiers.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the JQS Shopping Center (the old Ben-Rex Building) in Rifle. Russell George, family member, will officiate.
Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to any Alpine Bank for the memorial of Mark George.
Social Security had his last residence as New Castle, Garfield County, Colorado.
Mark married Marla Mae Strader, daughter of Phillip Kimble Strader and Marilyn Ruth Vagneur.
