Mary Nell (Head) Whitworth, 90, a loving mother of the Head and Whitworth families, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in Cleburne.
Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at Bethany Rest Cemetery in Alvarado. Visitation 6-8 p.m.
Saturday. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Head, Elliott Head, Tom Head, Tim Head, Aric Head, Chadric Head, Stewart Whitworth, Eric Whitworth and Jeff Anderson.
Mary Nell was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Auburn, Ellis County, to Thomas (Tom) Caleb Harvey and Lilly Elgen Wilmoth. She was raised in Johnson County and at Egan, Texas, met and married Atho Asbury Head in 1932. After Atho's death in 1968, she married William Thomas Whitworth of Joshua in 1970.
Aside from being a devoted wife and loving mother, she was self employed as a paper hanger prior to being employed by Wall's Manufacturing Co. for 19 years. Mrs. Whitworth was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Mary Nell was preceded in death by her first husband, Atho Head, the father of her three (3) sons. Her second husband, Bill Whitworth also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Lawrence Head and wife, Juanita, Charles Head and wife, Ruby Lee and Tommy Head and wife, Carolyn; stepchildren, Tom Whitworth and wife, Gloria Jean and Gloria Anderson and husband, Charles; twin brother, Buster Harvey and wife, Irene; sister, Winnie Mae Williams and husband, Curtis; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, many friends and brother and sisters in Christ.
The tombstone shared with Atho has Mary Nell Whitworth carved into it.
