Services for Frederick Leslie Nibling, 88, of Temple will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home with the Rev Chris Hughes and the Rev Steve Nance officiating.

Burial will be in Moffat Cemetery.

Mr. Nibling died Wednesday, Feb 22, at a local nursing facility.

He was born in Moffat to Albert Leslie Nibling and Arminta Ellen Grimes. He attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, receiving a bachelor's degree in education in 1941. He was employed by the Blessing school district from 1941 to 1942 as a principal of the high school and an athletic coach.

He was a personnel specialist for the Veterans Administration for 30 years. He ran the family farm in Moffat after retiring. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He received an Authorized Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Campaign Stars, an Air Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Presidential Unit citation and Victory Medal World War II.

He moved back to Central Texas in 1945. He married Gladys Cole in New Haven, Conn., on June 26, 1943. He was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Temple and church representative for a Boy Scout troop.

Survivors are his wife of Temple, two children, Fred Nibling Jr of Lakewood, Colo., and Susan Nibling of Dallas, and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church of Temple.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
