The funeral of Voyd Lee Doggett of Goldthwaite has been set for Thursday April 2, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel, Goldthwaite, Texas. Interment will be in the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Doggett died Sunday, March 29, 1998 at the Hillview Manor Nursing Home in Goldthwaite. He was 79 years of age. Voyd Lee Doggett was born June 17, 1918 in Mills County Texas, the son of Walter and Mabel (Evans) Doggett. He married Cleda Geeslin on December 24, 1944 in Mills County.
He has lived in Mills County most of his life. He was a Methodist. He worked as a mohair grader. He served during World War II in the United States Navy. He attained the rank of Quarter Master. He enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan. Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elwain, who was killed during World War II while serving the United States Army in France, and his brother Karl Doggett, who died in 1955.
Survivors are his wife Cleda Doggett of Goldthwaite; two sons, Stanley Doggett and his wife, Linda, of Venezuela and Doug Doggett and his wife Suzanne, of Goldthwaite; two daughters, Donna Lynn Benningfield and her husband, L.V. of Golden Colorado and Alicia Broadhurst and her husband, Rodney Paumaker of Austin; eight grandchildren, Jeff Benningfield, Jennifer Carlton, Julie Potts, Chad and Tammy Doggett and Erin Broadhurst; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Jackson Carlton; and two sisters, Louise Walker and Bonnie Arnold, both of Goldthwaite. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Omar Harvey, R.L. Updike, LeRoy Miller, Ed Harris, Charley McLean, Ted Kirby and Wendel Evans. Pallbearers were John Doggett, Chad Doggett, Jeff Benningfield, Dan Ivicic, L.V. Benningfield, and Tommie Watson.
