Elsa Anna Selma Senger, 94, died June 2, 2009 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Funeral services were held June 4 at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy with Pastor Don Kingman officiating. Burial was at St. John Cemetery in Priddy.
She was born Jan. 3, 1915 in Hamilton County. She was the daughter of Joseph Heptner and Martha Raemsett and Emma Heptner. She was raised in the Pottsville area.
She was married to Albert Senger on Nov. 4, 1935 in Priddy, where she lived all her married life. In 1978 she moved to Goldthwaite and lived there until her death.
Mrs. Senger was a homemaker and worked in all aspects of farm life. She also worked for Schuster's of Texas for thirty years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy.
Working outdoors in the yard and in the garden was her greatest joy, but when health problems prevented her from doing this, quilting became her greatest hobby and delight. She quilted for people from near and far, doing an average of fifty each year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Elfreida Scott and Meta Sommerfeld; two brothers, Ervin Heptner and Wilbert Heptner.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin and wife Lora Senger, Charles and wife Yvonne Senger; a daughter, Joe Ann and husband Lester Geeslin; grandchildren, Andrea and Scott Esse, Leslie Joe and Jody Hook, Danny Senger, Lorie and Steve Roberts, Lisa and Jim Fancher; great-grand¬children, Mason, Savanna and Colton Esse, Jordan Hook; siblings, Ida Sommerfeld, Gertrude Schrank, Annie Garrett, Walter Heptner and Milton Heptner, a special sister-in-law, Betty Senger; special niece, Joyce Sommerfeld; sisters-in-law, Faye Heptner, Joyce Heptner, Faye Senger and a brother-in-law, George Garrett.
