He was listed as a farmer in the 1900 census. At the time of the 1910 census, Luther, his wife, and son were living with his father in law's family in Floyd County, Texas. He was a laborer on the home farm. When Luther registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was a carpenter for Universal Ship Building Corp in Houston, Harris County, Texas. His wife, Mamie Lee, was his nearest relative. At the time of the 1920 census they were back in Floyd County, Texas, living with his father in law, but then Luther was listed as head of household. He owned his home in Lockney free of any mortgage. He was a fireman at the cotton gin. His death certificate showed he was a manufacturer, wood shop. His son Lloyd A. Wofford was the informant.
