He was listed as a farmer in the 1900 census. At the time of the 1910 census, William was renting the farm he worked in Floyd County, Texas. When William registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was farming in Stanley, Santa Fe County, New Mexico. His wife Bessie was his nearest relative. On the 1920 census in Stanley, he indicated that he owned his home free of mortgage and that he was farming his own farm. At the time of the 1930 census, William was renting his home in Lockney, Floyd County, Texas, for $10 a month. He was working as a building carpenter. Social Security had his last residence as New Mexico.
