Myrtle Stewart Touchstone
BROWNWOOD - Myrtle Stewart Touchstone, 97, of Brownwood, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve McMeans officiating. Burial will follow at Caradan Cemetery near Goldthwaite. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home.
She was born at Priddy to the late Edward A. and Annie Laura Miles Obenhaus. Mrs. Touchestone grew up in Mills County and married Johnny Lee Stewart. He preceded her in death. She married W.M. Touchstone in 1978 and he died in 1980. She worked in shipping for Chance Aircraft at Grand Prairie. Mrs. Touchstone had lived in Brownwood since moving here from Grand Prairie.
Survivors include a son, Edward Alvis Stewart of San Antonio; four daughters, Maxine Shipp of Hico, Wanda Swindler and Zelda Waldon, both of Early and Dalma Brown of Dallas; two sisters, Ruth Browning of Brownwood and Belva Howard of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Dean Stewart; three brothers; and four sisters.
She was living in Grand Prairie, Texas, in 1975. Social Security had her last residence as Brownwood, Brown County, Texas. Listed as Myrtle O. Touchstone. Her tombstone is cut Myrtle O. Stewart Touchstone.
Myrtle married John Lee Stewart, son of James Madison Stewart and Julia Ann Shaffer, about 1921.
