SAN ANGELO - Lola Mae Collings, 93, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in an area care center. Memorial service is at 10 a.m. Saturday in Baptist Memorials chapel. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Celebrating the life of Lola Mae Collings
Lola Mae Collings was born May 16, 1915 in Ira, Texas to Samuel and Bertha Head Littlepage. Lola was the youngest of four children, Vernon Littlepage, Obert Littlepage and Loretta Littlepage Curtis.
Lola grew up in Snyder, Texas and upon graduation from high school moved to Ft. Worth to attend FWC. Lola attended FWC for two years and then transferred to Howard Payne College to complete her studies.
It was during her college years she met and eventually married the love of her life, James F. Collings in August of 1942. Lola and J. F. had a daughter Vonita Sue Collings.
Lola had a long and outstanding teaching career, teaching first grade through eighth grade in Southland, Slayton, Snyder and Abilene, Texas. You would always find Lola near the piano singing in any church she attended. Lola enjoyed writing her own music and lyrics and would record them to share with everyone. Lola had a passion for educatin and music which was still with her to the end.
After retirement Lola and J.F. moved to San Angelo in April of 1981 to Baptist Memorials. Lola and J.F. had a strong desire to help spread the gospel and help begin several churches in the Tom Green County area. Lola began singing the 1st Sunday of each month at the Baptist Memorials Chapel Service and did so until just recently when failing health would not allow her to do so anymore. Lola loved her church and her God and always put them first.
She is now rejoicing and singing to her Almighty God!
