Funeral Held Here for Nora Mitchell

Nora Catherine Mitchell was born October 9, 1893 to Clinton Alexander Head and his wife, the former Missouri Ellen Welch. she was the fifth of six children who lived to maturity. Raised in the Center City Community, she joined the Methodist Church there at an early age.

On December 26, 1919, she married Rev. Thomas M. Mitchell and raised two sons. As the wife of a Methodist minister, she lived and worked in the church in numerous towns in Eastern Oklahoma and Southwestern Texas. Upon their retirement in 1958 they returned to Mills County where they lived together happily among family and friends until he preceded her in death September 22, 1975.

The last few years Mrs. Mitchell lived at the Heritage Home in Goldthwaite until her death at 8:45 p.m. June 25, 1982, at the age of 88 years.

She is survived by two sons, James T. Mitchell of Bloomington, Ill, and Horace A. Mitchell of Lubbock; five granddaughters, and five great-granddaughters.

Services were Sunday, June 27 at the Center City Methodist Church and interment at the Center City Cemetery. Rev. George Matthews, pastor, officiated.

Nora married Rev Thomas Munsey Mitchell, son of James Ezekial Mitchell and Artemisia Donegan, on 26 Dec 1919.¹ (Rev Thomas Munsey Mitchell was born on 29 Nov 1887 in Linn Flat, Nacogdoches County, Texas,^{11 12 13} died on 22 Sep 1975 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas ^{8 11 12} and was buried on 24 Sep 1975 in Center City Cemetery, Center City, Mills County, Texas ^{12 14}.). The cause of his death was carcinoma of prostate with generalized metastases.
