In the 1900 census, Susan's parents are shown to both be born in Texas. She had given birth to 3 children, 2 were still living. In the 1910 census, Susan was reported to have given birth to 6 children, 5 still living.

1900 census has birth date of Mar 1879, death certificate had 28 Mar 1879. Tombstone has 28 Mar 1878. She married at age 15 which would make the 1878 date more likely. The informant on her death certificate was her daughter, Mrs. Jewel Moore.

Susie married James Thomas Newby, son of John Faust Newby and Didamie Arrena Head, about 1893. (James Thomas Newby was born on 16 Jul 1873 in Texas,^{4 8 9} died on 10 May 1938 in Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas ^{4 5 9} and was buried in Bethany Cemetery, Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas ^{7 9}.). The cause of his death was carcinoma on neck, brain paralysis.⁶
